People have been warned to avoid direct contact with the water at Rutherglen’s Lake Moodemere because of a blue-green algae bloom.

Parks Victoria said contact could cause allergic reactions like skin rashes or itchiness, sore eyes, ears and nose or gastroenteritis, nausea or vomiting.
“People should not eat whole fish or shellfish or crustaceans collected from Lake Moodemere,” ranger team leader Kris Hermans said.
