Albury Central station officer Dean Campbell said crews attended a Kemp Street Lavington home at 11am after a lounge chair caught alight.
“They had an extension cord behind it and over time it had worn down and started a fire,” he said.
“The reclining arm chair had pinched the cord too many times.
“It’s a reminder, because we all have cords like that around the house.
“It’s lucky it wasn’t in the middle of the night because it would have caused more damage.”
