Nash Rawiller and Extra Zero were all smiles after taking out the $170,000 listed Albury Gold Cup (2000m).
It was a sweet win for the David Hayes-trained Extra Zero, which finished second to Paddy O’Reilly last year.
Rawiller took the initiative and decided to contest for the early lead in the after drawing the widest barrier in the 12- horse field.
It proved to be a race-winning move as Rawiller dictated terms in front after Extra Zero ambled in the lead until the home turn.
Once straightening Extra Zero quickly shot out to a two length lead over his rivals and although getting tired on the line had a length to spare over the Mike Moroney-trained Muirfield ($4.20) with the Peter Moody-trained King Diamond ($9) third.
