In low-scoring preliminary finals, Beechworth recovered from an early collapse to defeat Rovers United-Bruck by four wickets and the Lakers successfully defended a modest score of 143.
Beechworth bundled Rovers United-Bruck out for 85 but soon ran into trouble and found themselves reeling at 4-35.
It limped to 4-45 at stumps after Alessandro Belci and Brendon Thompson did well to get through the final hour of play.
“We got ourselves into a bit of a rut on Saturday night and those two did really well,” Wanderers’ batsman Brenton Surrey said.
“They hung around for a bit longer today and got us fairly close.
“I just put the low scores down to pressure and good bowling.
“The wicket had nothing to do with it.
“It was a really good effort.”
Belci topscored with 20 in the run chase while Rovers United-Bruck’s Joe Thomas claimed the superb figures of 5-38 off 31 overs.
Opener Jordan Blades made 26 for the visitors on Saturday, but his teammates found it difficult to get on top of bowlers Mark Butters (4-16) and Richard Worcester (4-33).
City Colts looked to be cruising at 0-34 chasing Yarrawonga-Mulwala’s 143 before Matt Knight claimed the wicket of Oscar Willett for 16.
The wheels then fell off in the chase with John Ferguson the most successful bowler with 3-8.
