The Alpine Saints led by seven goals when Dale went down at Whorouly.
“It was late in the game and both sides had had enough in the heat,” coach Terry Burgess said.
“Hopefully Connor’s injury isn’t too serious.”
Christian Burgess was outstanding with five goals.
He received good support from Matt Dussin, Tom Kerlin, Brady Sharp, Elijah Wales and Lachie Dale.
Brett Doswell was again solid for Wodonga.
“It was a pretty good effort,” Burgess said.
“We worked on a few things and I think we are in reasonable shape for round one.”
Canberra Demons hammered Lavington by 150 points.
