Organisers apologised to those who missed out on joining the official hunt at Albury Botanic Gardens, saying they had underestimated the potential crowd.
Long queues formed as hunters waited to hand in their eggs and go in the draw for prizes of toys and up to $2000 cash.
Committee member Bill McDonald thanked the community for its support.
“None of us had any prior experience in something of this type, we’ve learned a lot,” he said.
“We’ve had a lot of indication from an enormous number of people that they absolutely loved the morning and want to see us go again next year.”
