The safety authority began building site inspections in both Albury and Wodonga on Monday, which will continue all week.
The aim is to reduce the risk of employees being hurt.
WorkSafe spokesman Michael Coffey said younger workers could lack the experience and skills to spot risks.
“We know they are injured more frequently than other workers, and also that the injuries they sustain tend to be more severe in nature,” he said.
“If you’re an employer or supervisor, fellow worker, or even a parent or friend, we urge you to take an interest in young workers and ask them what they’ve been doing and how they keep safe.”
A 16-year-old apprentice was injured in Albury in January after falling three-and-a-half metres from scaffolding.
