Councillors this week approved the draft Wangaratta Aerodrome Master Plan, which included ideas for more recreational flights and aviation tourism.
But it found there were limited opportunities for passenger flights because the airport was in such close proximity to Albury.
“This plan pretty much looks at what can be achieved there … and looks at where some alternative uses and some new hangar developments can occur,” the council’s development services director Barry Green told Tuesday’s meeting.
“It also considers options for further extensions to the airport.”
Councillors agreed to release Wangaratta Airport’s business case, which had previously been confidential, after a request from Wangaratta Aero Club.
The draft plan will go out for public comment until April 30.
