The group ‘We Need Exclusion Zones Right Here Right Now’ has co-ordinated the event to call for rights for women accessing the Englehardt Street fertility clinic in Albury and urges all supporters to attend.
The clinic’s anesthetist David Corbett will speak at the event, beginning at 1pm.
Andreia Schineanu, a researcher and activist for women’s rights who lives and works in the Riverina, Women’s Centre for Health and Well-being chief executive Lil Beamish, and advocates Kylie Virtue and Virginia Mason-Lee will also present.
Albury Deputy Mayor Amanda Cohn and Labor MLC Penny Sharpe will also take to the stage.
Ms Sharpe is driving a bill to create safe access zones around NSW abortion clinics – banning certain behaviour within 150 metres of the building.
It follows a Greens bill to establish zones and have abortion removed from the Crimes Act, defeated in the NSW parliament in May last year.
