Wyangla Dam, the Bidgee, the Murray all over the place, Mulwala, the Ovens, King, Buffalo, Mitta – they’re all fishing well with spinnerbaits, hardbodies, surface lures and bait all catching their share too.

As you all may know, the use of surface lures has really exploded in the past year or two.

I’m not sure if it’s just the sheer weight of numbers of fishos fishing them now or not, but we’re hearing of lots of cod being caught off the top at the moment.

The Coast – if you are thinking of heading to the coast and haven’t done a lot over there, give a bit of thought to fishing plastics in the estuaries.

It’s not a lot different to casting light gear for trout or reddies and I use the same outfit for salt and freshwater.

Flathead are going really well in most areas on the coast at the moment and are great fun on plastics.
