Less than an hour later angers flared again outside the main entertainment stage, near the marquee area.

Two main aggressors and at least four others punched on with one man suffering a split eyebrow.

All involved were compliant with police and no complaints of assault were made by either parties, with police issuing a move-on notice.

Albury Racing Club chief executive, speaking about the grandstand altercation on Friday, said it was unfortunate a minority of people did not behave well.

“Security were on the mark quickly, and hopefully not too many people were upset about it,” he said.

“We want people to come to the races and have a good time, not a rough time.”
