Fans from as far away as Darwin, Alice Springs, Broken Hill, Rockhampton and capital cities, Melbourne, Sydney and Hobart are set to deliver a $500,000 economic boost to the city with motels and airlines reporting strong sales for the concert, which follows three sold-out events at Caloundra, Toowoomba and Canberra.
Ticket sales have soared past the 8000 mark with fans, including Albury’s world class basketballer Lauren Jackson, unfazed by forecast wet weather today.
The finishing touches were being applied to the big top yesterday which will be the most sought after vantage spot when the gates open at 5pm.
Fans are expected to start queuing outside the sportsground from noon to secure a place close to the stage where support acts JET and Paul Dempsey will also perform.
Albury Council team leader Ros Walls said the city was determined to be an excellent host for the many visitors coming to town.
