With a swag of new faces coming into the line-up, the Englishman admitted everything was “way out of sync” in the early rounds.
But Lumb said encouraging performances against Southcity and Young in the past fortnight had turned their season around with coach Adrian Purtell looking forward to taking on Temora at Greenfield Park on Sunday.
“We took a while to get going but we’re picking up,” Lumb said.
“It was like a bomb went off early.
“We were out of sync with a lot of new players.”
Lumb’s work rate has been one of the factors behind Thunder’s improved form with the former Bradford player enjoying his role.
“I’m very settled,” he said.
“’Purts’ was my captain at Bradford for a year and I’ve always got on well with him.
“He’s not doing too bad for an old lad.”
Lumb’s English teammate Brad Hill has also impressed.
