About 75 new facial coverings, known as flash hoods, are being given to Fire and Rescue members.
Inspector Frank Finlay, said it was important to keep firefighters safe.
“They’re new and improved to prevent carcinogens entering firefighters’ bodies,” he said.
“Their safety is paramount.”
