Mrs Ylvisaker has taken the baton from another American, former opera singer Patti Graetz.
The concerts at St Matthew’s Church in Albury on Saturday and St John’s Church in Wodonga on Sunday will have an distinct American flavour featuring some songs of Billy Joel and Bing Crosby.
But there will also be music from German composer Johannes Brahms and England’s Gilbert and Sullivan.
The Conservatorium Jazz Trio will share the concert with the choir.
Mrs Ylvisaker previously served as the choir’s repetiteur, a role in which she supervised rehearsals in the directors’ absence.
As a highly talented pianist, she has accompanied many singers and musicians.
Saturday’s concert begins at 7.30pm and Sunday’s at 2.30pm.
