Thieves stole a Yamaha TTR125 motorbike and 2016 Yamaha Kodiak 700 quad bike from the Bonegilla property on Friday or Saturday.

The bikes were loaded onto the owner's trailer and driven away with other items, including a chainsaw.

The victim became emotional on Monday as he spoke of the impact of the theft on his son, who saved up to buy the motorbike.

"It's left me feeling vulnerable, not just me but my whole family," the man said.

"These people have hit us not once, but several times.

"I went out there on the Saturday morning and as I was driving down the road I noticed my gate was opened.

"I'd been burgled recently.

"Just a sick feeling came over me.

"I knew instantly what happened."

The man - who asked not to be named - had secured gates and sheds with three locks, which were damaged by the thieves.

He believes those responsible may have scoped out the property before the offence.

Detective Leading Senior Constable Ian Deverell said the items were distinctive, with the quad bike containing a spray pack and a box on the front.

"The victim in this matter has been targeted by offenders twice in the last month," he said.

"We're appealing for anyone in the community who may have seen these bikes on a trailer or have knowledge of people in possession of a new quad bike to contact Wodonga police or Crime Stoppers."

The thefts had an impact on the man's farming business, Detective Leading Senior Constable Deverell said.

Police are investigating whether the two burglaries are linked.

"Anybody who buys a quad bike, motorbike or chainsaw should consider the element they may be stolen," Detective Leading Senior Constable Deverell said.
