Fire crews took less than half an hour to contain a highway truck blaze in East Albury on Friday morning.
A Fire and Rescue NSW spokesman said the call came at 5.08am to a fire on the back trailer of B double truck on the Hume Highway southbound lane.
"The driver was uninjured, out of the truck and disconnected the trailer," he said.
The incident caused a grass fire that spread to both sides of the southbound lanes.
"At 5.36am the grass fire on the east side was extinguished and the west side was contained ... and they had fire control of the container," the spokesman said.
The truck's load included tyres and mixed goods.
Southbound lanes of the highway remain blocked, with traffic diversions through Albury still in place.
Four Fire and Rescue NSW trucks attended as well as the Country Fire Authority, police and Roads and Maritime Services.

Emergency services are on the scene near East Street, with the incident occurring soon after 5am.
There have been no reports of injuries at this stage.
Southbound motorists have been advised to leave the highway at Table Top and travel via Wagga Road, Mate Street, North Street, Young Street, Riverina Highway and Lincoln Causeway to rejoin the Hume Highway at Wodonga.
An traffic alert from the Victorian Department of Transport warned the diversion was currently adding an extra 40 minutes to travel times.
"All Sydney-bound lanes of the Hume Freeway remain open but there are delays past the scene," the alert said.
"The road will reopen when investigations are complete and it's safe to do so."
