Lock, considered the most accomplished mountaineer in Australian history, is guest speaker at a fund-raising afternoon to support local charity Meg’s Children’s Home.
The Nepalise orphanage was set up to honour the memory of Bowna’s Meg Ryan who suffered from spina bifida but strove to help those who were disadvantaged.
Event co-ordinator Elyse Millar said Lock was no stranger to overcoming harsh realities and with his support the lives of orphans who call Meg’s Children’s Home their home will continue to be enhanced.
“We are honoured to have Andrew Lock on board to raise needed funds for Meg’s Children,” Miss Millar said.
“Andrew has been to Nepal many times on his adventures and has experienced first hand how harsh life can be in the country.
“His talk will not only interest mountaineers, but those with an adventurous spirit or travel bug.
“His motivating presentations are also suitable for managers and business professionals.”
The charity afternoon will be held at Orange Grove Gardens, Culcairn on Sunday.
Tickets are only pre-paid and are available from Temple Hair Body Soul, Albury Indoor Rock Climbing, Smiths Office Solutions, KG’s HairDesigns or by phoning 0401 756 871.
