AN assault charge against a Howlong police officer was adjourned in Albury Local Court yesterday.

Lee Michael McCarthy, 50, has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm over an incident between 5pm and 6.30pm on August 12.
Solicitor Mark Cronin, appearing for McCarthy, indicated that the officer would be pleading not guilty.
Magistrate Megan Greenwood ordered the preparation of a police brief of evidence by
January 8.
The case is due back in court on January 22 when a hearing date is expected to be set.
Ms Greenwood was told the Director of Public Prosecutions office would take over the prosecution.
Mr Cronin appeared as agent for a Sydney firm which will represent McCarthy, who has been a Senior-Constable stationed at Howlong for several years.
The officer in charge of the investigation and informant is Insp Brad Blanchard from Albury.
