A STREET has been cordoned off in Wodonga this afternoon after explosives were found near a car.

Wodonga police Sgt Damian Bould said a highway patrol vehicle had intercepted a black Ford Territory in Wigg Street at about 2pm.
The car was believed to have been stolen.
Sgt Bould said a nearby resident saw the driver of the vehicle drop a blue bag on the footpath.
Police found a stick of power gel explosive and electrical wiring in the bag.
The street has been closed between Lawrence Street and Prague Avenue and the bomb squad has been called.
Five houses have been evacuated.
