Acting Insp Paul Goodwin, of Albury, said the old Ford Fairmont was speeding on Wagga Road at 4.30pm yesterday.
A pursuit reached 170km/h on the Hume Freeway near North Street, when Wodonga’s highway patrol took over, ending the chase in Thomas Mitchell Drive because of safety concerns.
The car was found dumped about 5.30pm in Toledo Court, just off Thomas Mitchell Drive.
Insp Goodwin said two people were in the car.
