Social media blamed as party turns wild

Four men and one teenage boy have been arrested after a party in Sydney's north west went out of control on Saturday night.

Police arrived in Winston Hills at about 11pm following a noise complaint, where they found a large number of drunken party-goers - mostly teenagers - on the street.

A 16-year-old allegedly assaulted one police officer, while a 23-year-old Wentworthville man was arrested for allegedly smashing the window of a house on Romulus Street.

Three other men aged 20-23 years were arrested for offensive conduct and violence.

About 300 young people turned up at the Caroline Chisholm Drive residence after the party was advertised on social media. Parramatta police issued a warning to parents and young people about the dangers of social media.

The home-owners assisted police in shutting down the party.
