The club’s total donation to the project is now $125,000, a large part of the $2.6 million already raised through public contributions.
“Unfortunately many of our members are touched by cancer, so this has been a good way for us to recognise and contribute to that,” Mr Edmunds said.
Project committee member Alf Armstrong said public support had been “fantastic”, but there were some funding shortfalls.
“At this stage we need to raise an extra $150,000 to $200,000 to complete the funding,” Mr Armstrong said.
“Unfortunately we have to ask people to pitch in one last time before the accommodation is up and running.”
The project committee expects the first families to use the new units later this month, with an official opening next month.
The carer accommodation centre will host up to 20 families who travel from as far as Cobram and Deniliquin for medical treatment.
