Leading Sen-Constable Brent Reed said the man, from the Wodonga area, was released pending a summons to the Corryong Magistrates’ Court.
He faces firearm offences.
Jeda, a nine-month-old Labrador cross kelpie, was shot and killed as she walked ahead of her owner on a track in Thowgla Valley at 8.30am on New Year’s Eve.
It devastated her owner, who said a hole was left in his life.
“She was beautiful, very placid, happy to see you and wouldn’t hurt a fly,” he said.
The Thowgla Valley man, who wanted to remain anonymous, bought Jeda six months ago from a property near Corryong and said the dog with a “beautiful temperament” was “training up” nicely.
