Mr Zaknich resigned from his previous post this morning. He will start in the role Monday, March 11.
Mr Zaknich has been the General Manager of Broken Hill City Council since 2006.
He started his career at Broken Hill began his career as a trainee Health and Building Surveyor with before working with regional and metropolitan councils throughout New South Wales and South Australia, including Bland Shire Council, Clare District Council and Central Darling Shire Council.
AlburyCity Mayor, Cr Alice Glachan, said Albury Council was pleased to offer the position to Mr Zaknich.
"Key components of the role will be attracting investment and jobs to the area, helping deliver Albury 2030 while overseeing a 400-strong organisation that delivers everything from road construction to child care," Cr Glachan said.
"It's a big job and Councillors are looking forward to working alongside Frank to deliver the best for Albury."
"Frank has extensive local government experience gained at a number of regional and metropolitan Councils across New South Wales and South Australia.
"He is highly experienced, well qualified and will be a great fit in our organisation and our community."
