Detectives combed through a home, rear shed and cars at a Booralma-Tarrawingee Road property in Tarrawingee, 10 kilometres east of Wangaratta.
There they found goods they believe are connected to break-ins at transfer stations in Rutherglen, Porepunkah and Mount Beauty.
Detective Leading Sen-Constable Mark Hussey said almost $4000 in items such as batteries, copper and brass were stolen at the tips in December and January.
He said the some of the propery was stolen to be sold-on to metal recyclers for cash.
Two men were arrested yesterday morning and interviewed at the Wangaratta Police Station.
The pair, both 19, were charged with 10 offences each.
The charges included burglary, theft, handle stolen goods and possess proceeds of crime.
They were bailed by police yesterday afternoon to appear at Wangaratta Magisrates' Court on April 22.
