Nominations and acceptances for both the Thursday and Friday are now in line on the same dates.
Nominations for all races, including the $170,000 Listed Albury Gold Cup will now close at 11am on Friday, March 15.
Acceptances for all races will take place at 9am on Tuesday, March 19.
“The change will allow all fields for both days to be released earlier than normal,” club chief John Miller said.
“It’s a commonsense decision and provides racing participants with additional time to organise travel arrangements and a better lead-in with punters for form assessment.”
- SOUTHERN District racing action heads to Corowa on Saturday with a six-race card.
The non-TAB meeting has received 95 nominations with the $7000 Benchmark 50 Hcp (1000m) the feature race.
The Benchmark 50 Hcp has attracted 19 nominations including the Corowa-trained duo of Perfect Sir and Puma Kayo, King Of Troy, Sergeant Major and Simon Town.
Benalla Racing Club has received 265 nominations for its eight-race card on Monday.
Racing then heads to Wagga on Tuesday for its seven-race TAB meeting.
- SOUTHERN District premiership winning jockey Andy Bloomfield is set to make his return to racing at Wagga on Tuesday.
Bloomfield has been off the scene since June after suffering four breaks to his left arm in a race fall a Corowa.
He has since undergone several setbacks in his recovery and underwent surgery again last month where a piece of bone in his hip was inserted in his arm.
Bloomfield has been back riding trackwork for the past three weeks in preparation for his comeback.
- WANGARATTA Turf Club has received a $36,250 government grant for the construction of new entrance gates at the racecourse.
The project will involve excavation works, construction of new concrete foundations and retaining wall, an electronic gate and electrical works.
The upgrade will address an occupational health and safety issue at the club as horses that become loose at the track are at risk of exiting the venue and running on nearby roads.
