The key signings are a huge boost to the Raiders’ chances of remaining a finals force after being the hardest hit by off-season departures.
Limbach, 26, was drafted by Richmond in 2004 and spent two seasons on the list without playing a senior game.
The 191-centimetre key forward booted 89 goals at full-forward for Montmorency two years ago and kicked 43 as a centre half-forward last season.
He has also had stints at VFL clubs Williamstown and Frankston and was a part of the 2004 Calder Cannons premiership side in the TAC Cup.
Giles is a key defender who is earmarked to play full-back with Steven expected to slot into the Raiders’ midfield.
Steven featured in the Pies’ best players on nine occasions from 17 matches last year.
Former Richmond forward and Yarrawonga recruit Kayne Pettifer was also at the Northern football
league club last season.
Raiders coach Ken Stevenson said the trio would travel this season and had committed to twoyear deals.
“There are a number of recruits we could have had but we wanted big blokes and we wanted them for two years,” Stevenson said.
“The club has been chasing Limbach for the past couple of seasons and we are rapt to fi nally be able to secure his signature last night.
“It’s fantastic news for everyone at the club and a good reward for the boys who have been putting in
the hard yards on the track.
“Credit has to go to the Montmorency boys for signing for two years and committing for the long term.
“We are trying to build for future success rather than just try to make it happen overnight.
“The signings help shore up our goal-to-goal line with Giles and Dean Heta key backs and Limbach and John Spencer key forwards.
“The people who have written us off may have to think again.”
Stevenson said the Raiders were hopeful of landing more recruits before their season opener against Wangaratta Rovers at the W.J Findlay Oval.
