The 22-year-old from Lavington died on Sunday morning when his car hit a tree on Mungabareena Road.
Yesterday his parents, Mark and Kim Peachey, described their son as a fun-loving larrikin, who enjoyed BMX riding and always had time for his friends and family.
They spoke to The Border Mail from their Lavington home where Chris was also living with his younger siblings Tim, 19, and Kaitlyn, 16.
“Chris was quite a larrikin and always had a joke,” Mrs Peachey said.
“He was always bubbly and outgoing, there was never a dull moment when he was around.”
They said Chris loved to socialise and always had a way with women.
“His favourite colour was lime green and he had a Hawaiian shirt in that colour that he used to call his grog and giggle shirt,” Mr Peachey said.
“Whenever there was a party he would put on his grog and giggle shirt.”
Chris grew up in Jindera before moving with his family to Lavington about four years ago.
He graduated from year 10 at Murray High School, before starting as an apprentice baker at Hot Bake in Lavington.
After completing the apprenticeship last year he went to Perth for a short time to pursue work in a bakery, but decided home was where he needed to be.
Chris enjoyed his BMX riding and built his own ramp and foam pit while living in Jindera.
Mr Peachey said his son’s dream when he was younger was to become famous for his skills on the bike.
“He had a very bright future,” he said.
“We would like to think he is up there looking down on us, cracking jokes and perhaps having a beer with his great nan and great grandfather.”
