More than 20 bright orange signs featuring the hearts have been erected in the city to guide motorists around the road closure between Elgin Boulevard and Bond Street.
The signs map out alternative routes and the council’s director of planning and infrastructure Leon Schultz said they would help in minimising the impact on those who make use of the street.
“The alternate routes allow traffic to freely and easily move around High Street and these signs make it easy for motorists to follow the designated course,” he said.
The Elgin Boulevard realignment will remove the dog leg where it connects with High Street, which Mr Schultz said would improve traffic flow.
