It is alleged, the mother, 47, drove the vehicle, while her son and James Lawrence Strauss, 18, went inside the Wodonga homes to steal presents valued at $8300.
Strauss was sentenced to 12-months detention in a youth justice centre on Tuesday in the Wodonga Magistrates Court.
The Springdale Heights mother and son were charged late last night with three counts of aggravated burglary and two counts of theft.
It is alleged a third home, belonging to the mother’s ex-partner, was broken into on Christmas morning but no presents were taken.
The mother will appear in the Wodonga Magistrates Court on March 25 and her son in the Wodonga Children’s Court on the same day.
They were both released on bail last night.
