“We’d go shopping for presents for guys and we’d never be able to get the right thing,” Mrs Stelfox said.
A few months later, the husband and wife business partners opened Man Zone in South Street, Wodonga.
They call it a “blokey bloke” store and it stocks collectables, bar ware, memorabilia and models sourced from around Australia.
Mrs Stelfox said they were happy with buyers’ reaction when the store opened last year.
“We’re getting more stock in and we’re happy to order things for people,” she said.
The couple said the Australian-made model petrol pumps and vintage stools displayed at the front of the store were their most popular items.
Mr Stelfox said the store was perfect for gifts and for those adding to man caves.
“Guys come in and their eyes light up, it’s like they’re in a lolly shop,” he said.
“I know some people who haven’t told their partners the store exists so they can keep getting presents here.”
Mrs Stelfox said the store wasn’t just for the men.
“A lot of ladies like it, too — they think it’s great for presents,” she said.
