Moloney, who smashed 88 batting at No. 3, gave the competition struggler a bright ray of hope as it chased Balldale’s 177.
Languishing at 9-71, Moloney went ballistic to put on 79 for the final wicket, with 20 coming from No. 11 Mick Dore.
But it wasn’t enough as they were bowled out for 150.
Matt Ross made 57 for the winners, with Phil Jones picking up four wickets during Balldale’s innings.
In the round’s other matches it was the Kreutzberger show as Rand thumped Walla in convincing fashion.
Mark and Adam Kreutzberger put on a 138-run opening stand before Mark was dismissed for 85.
Adam made 49, while Chris chipped in with 29 later in the innings as Rand surged to 5-251 from just 35 overs.
Walla could manage just 9-121 in reply.
Burrumbuttock held out rival Brocklesby in the round’s final game.
