Today, 42 degrees is again predicted for Albury-Wodonga and the North East, but the region might get some thunderstorms from early afternoon — then maximums of 32 degrees tomorrow.
There’s no respite for the region’s fire crews, however, with the Country Fire Authority on high alert thanks to forecast wild and windy conditions.
Fire Services Commissioner Craig Lapsley said the strong southerly wind change and possible lightning strikes were a worry.
“Victoria is very dry and ready to burn, as we have seen over the past two weeks,” he said.
Maximums of 32 and 33 degrees are predicted for Wednesday and Thursday respectively, with fire risks remaining high across the region due to wind.
