They include Del Kathryn Barton’s winning portrait of the actor Hugo Weaving, along with 38 others.
To help defray the cost of mounting the prestigious exhibition, the library museum will charge a special entry fee of $4 but children under 12 will have free entry.
The Archibald Prize, hosted by the Art Gallery of NSW, is awarded annually to the best portrait painting and is, in effect, a who’s who of Australian culture.
Politicians, celebrities, sporting heroes and artists have featured in the competition over the years.
In 2013, 868 entries were received, the winner receiving $75,000.
The Archibald will be the first major exhibition mounted in Albury since the art gallery was closed for redevelopment.
It opens on March 22 and runs to May 4.
