- A fridge, washing machine and collectable coins were stolen from a Benalla home while its resident was in Melbourne being treated for medical problems, police said.
Police said the Melrose Street house was broken into between February 6 and 11 with white goods and collectable Macquarie Mint Australian coins taken.
- A fire that destroyed two cars and a forklift at the Benalla Recycling Centre on Saturday is being treated as suspicious.
CFA firefighters were called to the Benalla Recycling Centre at 2am on Saturday where bundles of cardboard and paper in front of the shedding at the premises were alight.
The heat from the fire ignited more bundles inside the steel shed and spread throughout the building, destroyed two cars, a forklift and other equipment.
It took firefighters more than two hours to extinguish.
- A truck driver will appear in court charged with possessing the drug ice after he was intercepted on the Hume Freeway for speeding.
Police said a truck was pulled over on the freeway near Mansfield Road at 4pm on Friday and police found five grams of the drug ice.
The driver will appear at court at a later date.
