Jory, 17, attracted the selectors’ attention after making scores of 81 not out, 82 not out, 18 and 18 not out for Riverina at the recent NSW CHS Cricket Championships in Sydney. He averaged 199 for the championships.
Jory has followed the footsteps of former students Will McIntosh and Tom Ellwood (2013) and James McNeil (2008) in making the side.
The year 12 student’s performances are even more impressive considering he doesn’t play regular weekend cricket.
“I have played for Lavington before and still get out there a bit but I have just been playing school cricket this year,” Jory said yesterday.
The side will be coached by Wagga’s Terry Willis. The NSW schoolboys championships will be played in Sydney from March 10 to 14.
