Stories I Want to Tell You in Person is set in New York and features the playwright’s adventurers with different characters from the Big Apple.
It will start a run at Wodonga’s Gateway Island tonight with Katz playing multiple roles and bringing in her Apocalypse Bear, a brown furry creature who has appeared in three previous works.
“If I’m feeling down, he turns up,” Katz said.
“He doesn’t talk in this show, but we do dance.”
The work made its stage debut in Sydney last year and toured to New York and there are plans to take it to Mexico and India.
“It’s a personal story but, with most personal stories, you can read you’re own life into the stories,” Katz said.
Among the plot lines for the drama is Katz’s consultations with psychics.
“In some ways, I was giving them money to confirm my own beliefs but they’ve never seen the show and I’m worried if they see it they will want royalties,” she said.
Stories I Want to Tell You in Person opens at the Butter Factory Theatre at 8 pm.
