But Balldale was forced to fight every inch of the way in its district association semi-final to see off Burrumbuttock at Balldale on Saturday.
The Magpies skittled their opponents for 54 but were 5-43 in reply before steadying and advancing to the grand final against Rand.
Captain Pat Mitchell said it was another mixed performance.
“Like last week, the bowlers were right on top,” Mitchell said.
“I’m not sure why it is but both sides struggled to make runs.
“It was strange, finishing at 3.45pm.”
Burrumbuttock’s score could have been worse as Jacob Pettifer (22) and Shannon Mott (14 not out) hit out late after coming in at No. 7 and 8.
Marc Playford, Shay Rhodes and Matt Ross both picked up three wickets.
Balldale’s top scorers were Alex Wilson (14) and Pat Mitchell (13).
Meanwhile, Rand forged a much easier path to the grand final by crushing Brocklesby by 111 runs at Rand.
Ryan Kirkwood was the star for the victors with a well-made 93 while brothers Mark (40) and James Kreutzberger (37) ensured the total was well out of Brocklesby’s reach.
