CFA crews attended the Le Couteur Avenue house about 4am this morning and found the home’s sole occupant, a male, lying on the front lawn.
He was conscious and breathing but is understood to have suffered some minor injuries.
He was transferred to hospital for treatment.
CFA District 24 duty officer Graeme Neil said the house was completely engulfed with flames when crews from Beechworth, Wooragee and Stanley arrived.
It took firefighters about 20 minutes to get the blaze under control and another two hours to extinguish the flames.
Police are investigating the cause of the fire.
