Albury Racing Club officials have got their fingers crossed that predictions of a 90 per cent chance of up to 80 millimetres of rain doesn’t eventuate and dampen the Border’s biggest social event.
The prospect of a heavy track could see the full field of 16 runners decimated by scratchings.
Brett Cavanough was beaming yesterday as he checked the weather radar with last year’s winner Niblick and fourth place-getter Price of Glory both noted mudlarks.
But rival trainer Brian Cox said he wouldn’t hesitate in scratching Corowa Cup winner, Full Hand, pictured after training this week, if the track was rain affected.
