Promising three-year-olds Just A Bullet and Scatcat look set to target city success while Cavanough was unsure what laid in store for The Monstar, who was an impressive winner of the Flat Knacker.
Cavanough enjoyed another successful carnival with three winners over the two days.
He also notched five minor placings, including Price Of Glory who went within a half-head of handing the leading trainer a second successive Albury Gold Cup.
“It was another pretty good carnival,” Cavanough said.
“Everyone did their job, the staff worked brilliantly and from a stable point of view the horses performed mostly as we would have hoped.
“We targeted it with a lot of runners, we had success and walk away pretty happy.”
Just A Bullet vindicated Cavanough’s decision to bypass the Flat Knacker when the speedster was beaten a lip at Moonee Valley in his first attempt in city company on Saturday.
Scatcat also looks set for another promising campaign after flashing home late in the same race after being badly held up turning for home.
“Just A Bullet went super and couldn’t have done any more,” he said.
“He didn’t get left alone in front, it was city company and he just went under.
“Scatcat was back the fence having no luck behind him and if she gets the breaks it probably changes the result again.”
Cavanough said Scatcat was likely to head to Sydney for her next start, while Just A Bullet could target a midweek meeting in Melbourne.
“Just A Bullet and a few of the other horses that went around over the carnival we will probably look at midweek Melbourne just to test them and see how good they are,” he said.
“I’m not sure about The Monstar, I haven’t seen the owners since the Flat Knacker and I heard they are still celebrating the win.”
Cavanough said Niblick would have a freshen-up before possibly tackling the Scone Cup in mid May while he was unsure where Price Of Glory would head for his next start.
