The funds for the Stroke Foundation’s Albury-Wodonga Stroke Support Group were raised at a golf day last month.
It was attended by about 60 of the association’s sponsors, family and friends.
Association president Barry Chappel said he was proud to dedicate the donation in honour of Noel Gutherie.
“I saw him Christmas Day and he said we should catch up for dinner soon,” Mr Chappel said.
“He had a stroke the next day getting ready for a holiday and was dead in a few weeks.”
Golf committee president Shane Fisher said a “stroke can happen to anyone, anywhere, any time”.
They described Mr Gutherie as charming and well-loved.
