The league had few difficulties returning to Division 1 and will look to upset Geelong today for a berth in tomorrow’s grand final.
The Scots School’s Charlie Spargo was a prolific ball winner in the midfield, Walla giant Alex Paech dominated in the ruck and up forward, Kane Mills provided plenty of rebound from defence and Jack Schilg’s strength was a constant concern for Ballarat.
Team manager Jeff Chandler said it was a solid first-up performance.
“The boys got off to a good start and kept the pressure on fairly well,” he said.
“I thought we played two or three good quarters of football.
“It’s a good start, but Geelong will be tough tomorrow as they have also had a good win over Ballarat.”
The O and M plays Geelong at Victoria Park at 2.20pm.
