PROJECTion Dance Company has been nominated for most outstanding achievement in independent dance in the Australian Dance Awards.
The nod is for the company’s production of Swan Lake at The Cube Wodonga last year.
It has since travelled to South Africa, Britain and the Netherlands.
Director Tim Podesta said the company’s first nomination confirmed his belief the company could create incredible work that could be appreciated around the world.
“It’s important to me. I grew up in Albury-Wodonga, and, even though we perform all over the world, I have support from the council and The Cube,” he said.
Mr Podesta said arts in regional Australia must continue to be developed.
“We feel we’re certainly at the forefront of making that a reality,” he said.
Mr Podesta said the nomination was a boost for the company before the premiere of its Of Mice and Men production at The Cube on April 24.
