The $11,000 Commander Holbrook Cup (1400m) is the feature on the six-race card.
A big crowd always makes its way to Holbrook for the popular race meeting, with club vice-president Tom Last expecting a crowd in excess of 2000 people.
“We are expecting another bumper crowd with people coming from Albury, Wagga, Culcairn, the Upper Murray and surrounding districts,” Last said.
“This year we also see the return of ‘The Tin Hare’, with members of the Lachlan Valley Rail Group travelling by train from as far afield as Cootamundra and Cowra to Culcairn before catching a bus to the races.
“A record number of marquee and umbrella packages have been booked this year and the club is encouraging everyone to get involved in the Derby Day theme and wear their finest black and white outfit.
“Fashions on the field will be just one of the highlights, with great prizes up for grabs for both men and women in a wide variety of categories.”
The cup has attracted 23 nominations with Border trainers Brett Cavanough, Brian Cox, Liz Aalbers, Kym Davison, Rob Wellington and Sylvia Thompson all involved.
There will be a big screen televising metropolitan racing, including the AJC Derby.
Local and metropolitan bookmakers will be in attendance alongside TAB facilities.
Gates open at 11am with the first race at 12.30pm.
