In slippery conditions, the O and M failed to make the most of its opportunities up forward as it sunk to a 30-point defeat in the wet at Victoria Park.
Riley Kennett played well off half back, with Charlie Spargo and Jack Schilg backing up their strong first-day showings with another impressive outing.
Team manager Jeff Chandler said the result, which saw Geelong finish as the only unbeaten team in Division 1, didn’t reflect the closeness of the contest.
“It was a really trying day and it rained steadily throughout,” Chandler said.
“It was one of those games where we’d have the ball for 10 minutes in our forward line and not score and then they’d take it straight up the other end and score.
“In the end, they were a bit stronger and a bit bigger-bodied.”
Today’s third versus fourth playoff against Gippsland is at Preston, with Geelong to take on Peninsula in the decider.
