Familiar foes Corowa-Rutherglen and Wangaratta to face off first up

COROWA-Rutherglen and Wangaratta will play each other for the third time this year when they launch their Ovens and Murray A-grade netball campaigns at Norm Minns Oval on Saturday.

With the teams having already played twice in the Victorian Regional State League competition in Shepparton, neither team is likely to be caught by surprise tactics.

Wangaratta has enhanced its speed through the mid-court and defensively the Magpies look strong in the ring.

While the Roos’ outfit is slightly different to the Shepparton competition, it will be eager to capitalise on the match fitness gained and turn in a strong first-up performance.

Corowa-Rutherglen will be without star Sophie Hanrahan and will need to draw from their depth.

North Albury hosts a new-look Wangaratta Rovers at Bunton Park.

The Hawks have had a huge turnover of players over the off-season and, like their opponents, will rely on a group of youngsters to carry their fortunes.
