The group of four stole $39.60 worth of fuel from Caltex on Union Road at 12.20pm yesterday, but were spotted by police in Colley Street just four minutes later.
The white Ford Falcon failed to stop when police activated their siren and was driven into parkland.
The police saw the youths fleeing on foot in Gayview Crescent a short time later and gave chase.
A 16-year-old was arrested and taken to Albury police station where he was charged with a number of driving offences.
He was bailed to appear at Albury Children’s Court on Tuesday, April 29.
