Bat relocation at Albury gardens

WORK to relocate the bat colony in Albury’s Botanic Gardens will start on Monday.

That follows approval for the plan from the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage.

The council announced this afternoon that the plan had been developed in conjunction with staff from Melbourne’s Botanic Gardens, which carried out a similar relocation in 2003.

Residents near the Albury gardens will be notified about the program, which involves creating large amounts of noise at dusk and dawn using devices such as starting pistols and chainsaws.
